Sarah has developed such a precious little personality and we love her to pieces. I think a suitable one-word description of her would be, CRAZY. Ever since she was little, she hasn't liked to lay down, except maybe when she is sleeping. I think she must have abs of steel because of all the crunches she does, trying to sit up. Finally, she is now pretty much sitting on her own. Occasionally she'll topple over, but I think it's only a matter of days, and she'll have grasped it completely. We have that little ring that friends have let us borrow(you've probably seen it in pictures) that's great because I can let her play on her own, not worrying about her falling over. She still only rolls from tummy to back when she's flat on the floor, but I think she'll start rolling over the other way soon. She's not too interested in trying to crawl, she just tries to stretch as far as she can to get her toys. Speaking of toys, Sarah would much rather play with anything but her toys, especially things she can't have. She loves spoons and spatulas, and I think her all time favorite would be paper. She is so wiggly when we hold her, always trying to reach for things. I'm used to it, but for someone who is not used to holding her she's a handful. She's not a very snuggly baby, except when she's very tired or pretending to be shy.
Overall, she's not a big fan of sleeping in the day. I don't think she believes in naps longer than 30 minutes. Very, very rarely will she sleep more than an hour at a time. I can't complain though, because she's not an overly fussing baby and just seems to not need much sleep. She pretty much has been sleeping through the night for maybe a month, with a few exceptions. I'd much rather her do that and sleep less in the day.
It seems like she's been teething for as long as I can remember, but still no teeth. To me it looks like one of her top teeth are going to pop through first, but we'll see. She's wearing pretty much 6-9 month clothes and even some 9-12 month. I tried to weigh her on our scale yesterday and I think she weighs about 24 pounds! I'm not surprised though, because my sore arms and shoulders tell me she's heavy.
She's still breastfed about every 2 hours, sometimes more frequently (just on one side each feed). We've started feeding her baby food about once a day. So far she loves sweet things and is not a big fan of vegetables. She'll eat some of them mixed though. She likes little pieces of potatoes and little bits of cheese(not sure if I'm supposed to be giving her that). I don't know if I'm just lazy, but I'm not in a huge rush to wean her. I guess I just feel like she's happy and is getting plenty, so we'll just take it slow.
Let's see...what else? Oh, last week she seemed to really find her voice....yabbering away! She started saying Dada too. She doesn't quite know what it means yet, but it was definitely something she learned how to say from us repeating it over and over. We had been trying to get her to wave hi to Chris, and we'd say, "Say hi Dada!" and she started saying Dada after that. It's so cute she tries to wave sometimes by just sticking her arm out in front of her. It's crazy how much babies can take in and learn when they're so little. We have an amazing Creator!
Although, in some ways, Sarah is growing up so fast, in other ways, it hasn't gone by too fast. I think we've found that we've enjoyed each stage so much and look forward to the next one coming. She's our little bundle of joy! I know this is kind of a long post, so if you made it this far, thanks for reading! We love all the comments and thanks for enjoying with us our little girls progress and growth over her first 6 months of life! Thank you Lord, for giving us our precious daughter.
Some of Sarah's nicknames so far:o)- Sary Berry, Essy Bessy, Sarah Barah, Boobaloo....and I'm sure there's many more!

fun fun katy thanks for sharing!
I don't wean my babies till they are a year. I didn't feed them every 2 hours though. That must be a lot of work. I still fed them every 3 to 3 1/2 (and once you calculate in the whole actual nursing it gets closer) at that age. My kids also usually woke up at least once to eat at night though. My kids aren't great nappers but I was a lot better at putting Allie down for solid naps verses Wills. So he would take shorter naps throughout the day and not long ones. Allie takes great afternoon naps and Wills decided at about 2 1/2 he was done with that nonsense but occationally he still needs a rest. So I hear you on the napping thing.
One of my favorite features about blogs is that you can go back months later and be like Oh yeah that is what we were doing. It's fun!
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Sarah! Yeah, it does seem like I'm nursing all of the time some days. Sometimes it's a lot longer in between feeds, and she doesn't really nurse for that long at a time...I think she just gets bored :o). I wonder weather she's not getting enough, but she's pretty much eaten like that since she was born.
The joys of motherhood!

This is such a blessing to have a running diary of this precious time in all of your lives. As life gets busier you will be so thankful for it. Being so far away makes it hard to think we will miss these moments but thank you for bringing us into them. We can't wait till June!!
Loads and loads of love and hugs,
Mommy and family
